Three Upper School Students Win Awards at NEOSEF

Huge congratulations to Katharine Northrop ‘25, Julia Duong ‘26, and Eve Belding ‘25, who all earned second-place honors in their respective categories at the recent Northeast Ohio Science and Engineering Fair!


Katharine presented her research titled “Regulation of microRNA 146a expression by O-GlcNAcylation in T lymphocytes: Unraveling a potential mechanism in Type One diabetes pathogenesis” and came in 2nd place in Health Medicine for Grades 11-12. She also received three special awards for her research:
  • Cleveland Clinic Genomic Medicine Institute for Outstanding Projects in Biological Sciences
  • Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute for Outstanding Research Projects
  • Northeastern Ohio Association for Diagnostics and Laboratory Medicine

Julia presented her research titled “Cereblon: A novel mediator of tauopathy in traumatic brain injury” and tied for 2nd place in Health Medicine for Grades 11-12

Eve’s research, titled “Understanding Climbing Knots with Finite Element Analysis” earned 2nd place in Math and Computer Science for Grades 11-12.
