Hillary Teague Discusses Importance of College Essays in Cleveland Jewish News
Hillary Teague, Associate Director of College Guidance and Dean of Upper School Students, was included in this Cleveland Jewish News story about the importance of essays in the college admissions process.
In the article, Hillary states, “The essay is an opportunity to speak about yourself in your own words. Colleges acknowledge that an applicant’s character matters in the admission application process, and the essay gives students a place to highlight their values, character and interests.”
“Colleges are looking for evidence of character and for authenticity,” Teague continued. “Is the essay clearly written in a student’s voice? Does it provide examples of a value in action? Are they learning something new about the student and/or does the essay provide more context to something already referenced in the application?”
