Nicole Franks Highlights Parent-School Partnerships in Cleveland Jewish News Story

Nicole Franks, Laurel’s Director of Early Childhood, was featured in a June Cleveland Jewish News story linking student developmental success and the steady partnerships between both home and school.

“When concerns are raised about a child, emotions often run high,” said Nicole. “Schools should take time to build relationships with families and provide them with many forms of information and resources during a time that could produce worry or stress. Schools should take time to celebrate any growth or development with families.”

She went on to say that “Independent schools are privileged to know each child and build successful partnerships with families. Teachers, administrators, counselors and school psychologists all weigh in when concerns about a child’s developmental milestones arise. Concerns could span cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional development. Schools work with families to find resources inside and outside of school to help each child make developmental progress. Some interventions may happen in the child’s classroom with their teachers, while other scenarios may require seeking outside services or support.”
