Laurel’s Upper School JustWrite Team Dominates at Regional JustWrite Tournament
Congratulations to Laurel's Upper School JustWrite team, which won first place overall this past weekend at the first-ever Regional JustWrite Tournament, which Laurel hosted! The team earned the tournament sweepstakes award for the third year in a row, and Laurel students also won four of the six Excellence in Poetry awards.
Laurel’s Ninth and Tenth Grade (Division 1) A team won first place. The Eleventh and Twelfth Grade (Division 2) B team won third place and the Eleventh and Twelfth Grade (Division 2) A team won second place.
Congratulations to Ana Rubio-Cavillo ‘27, Kate Allen ‘28, Hazel Segal ‘27, and Sascha Leiken ‘25 for their poetry awards and their automatic qualification to the state tournament. Also automatically qualifying for the state tournament are the following students who won individual overall awards for their written prose:
Kirchner ‘25: 15th place in Division 2
Cici Cao ‘25: 14th place in Division 2
Amelia Bravo ‘26: 12th place in Division 2
Eliana Fieldman ‘27: 10th place in Division 1
Shaashwatiyaa Balamurugan ‘28: 8th place in Division 1
