Alumnae

Alumnae Board & Committees

The Alumnae Board is the governing body of the Laurel School Alumnae Association.* Guided by the enterprise goal to increase alumnae engagement, both locally and throughout the world, the Alumnae Board aims to increase opportunities to connect alumnae to each other and with the School, to promote their roles as Laurel ambassadors in the broader community, and to sustain strong leaders.
*Any woman who has attended Laurel School for at least one academic year is a member of the Association following graduation of the class in which she was a member.

May 2025 Summary for Proposed LSAA Amended and Restated By-Laws

The Ad hoc By-Laws Review Committee of the Alumnae Board recently reviewed the existing By-Laws for the organization, which were last amended over ten years ago and which have not been reviewed in their entirety since 2008. Based on our review, we identified a number of provisions which we recommend amending to create a more modern and streamlined governing document. From a process standpoint, we are recommending for adoption the following Amended and Restated By-Laws, which would replace the version currently in effect, except where specifically noted.  We feel these changes (i) allow for greater flexibility for the Alumnae Board to conduct meetings, (ii) clarify some previous uncertainty regarding term limits and election procedures for Board members and officers, (iii) allow for additional individuals who have made significant contributions to Laurel to be granted honorary status as a member, and (iv) address feedback we have received regarding go-forward eligibility as a member being based on attending Laurel for least one year in Grades K-12 only. Note that any changes related to eligibility would only be effective after adoption of these Amended and Restated By-Laws and would not impact individuals who previously were eligible under former versions of the By-Laws.

We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting on May 17, 2025 and appreciate your support in the adoption of these Amended and Restated By-Laws. Should you have any questions in advance of the meeting, please contact Julie Donahue at jDonahue@LaurelSchool.org.
